Orthodontics

Orthodontics coomeraIf you have crowded or crooked teeth, you may be a good candidate for orthodontic treatment. At Coomera Dental Centre, we provide orthodontic treatment options for several teeth problems including the following:

  • If the upper teeth stick out too much or the lower teeth are too far back (usually referred to as buck teeth)
  • If there is over crowing of the teeth
  • If the midline of the upper teeth does not align with midline of the lower teeth
  • If there are gaps or spaces between the teeth

Many people have crowded or crooked teeth that can be perfectly straightened with the help of orthodontic treatment. While enhancing the appearance of your teeth and smile, the procedure also improves the bite of the teeth, thus making them easier to clean and maintain oral hygiene.

When the teeth of upper and lower jaw don’t meet correctly, this may cause a lot of stress on the jaw muscles which eventually lead to headaches and even joint problems. While it is best to undergo orthodontic treatment as a child, age is not really an issue. Even adults can undergo the procedure at any age. Even if you have had prior work done – such as bridges or crowns – you can still get braces if required.

What does the procedure involve?

Orthodontic treatment starts with a full dental examination. The dentist will look at your teeth, take x-rays, or make models of your teeth.

Orthodontic treatment varies depending on the type of problem and age. Treatment usually takes more time for adults than children because the teeth may need to be moved slower than normal for various reasons.

The treatment typically involves wearing ‘braces’. You can either wear a removable brace or a fixed brace. Removable braces can be taken out for cleaning. If the teeth must be moved more accurately, you may require a fixed brace which has bands and brackets that are stuck to the teeth for the duration of the treatment.

Payment for the procedure
